I say go for it!
And I don't know about anyone else, but the best stories have a good balance of action and romance. ^_^

As this section goes between Mit's and the last entry I shall start with a refresher of Mit's. Mine picks up after the quote. It's just a bit of Mystique being a sadistic bitch:
"The serum that the Toad injected into Wolverine would have kept twelve full grown rhino's paralysed for a month. But Wolverine is the best at what he does, and what he does best is heal. Using all the gusto he can muster he just manages to utter the following in reply:
'I - think - you've - under - estimat - ed - our - son.'"
********************
Her barked laugh was loud in the small room.
"Oh, I think not, Logan." She trailed a long red nail down the side of his face, he jerked away as best he could with the restraints. "He is quite dead. You should have seen it. He cried like a baby when I shoved that knife in his gut. Bled most of his life out right there in front of me."
She's lying, he thought. She has to be. But she smells like the truth.
"No..."
"Oh, yes. You see, he serves me much better dead. I now can have a new life...." She shimmered, waves of energy flowing across her as she transformed. A perfect image of Kurt stood before him, Mystique's twisted smile marring his features. "His form suits me well, don't you think?"
Logan lurched against his bonds, a guttural snarl ripping from his throat. You just did me a favor, he thought. Anger makes me heal. Toady's serum is almost gone. Creed appeared at the doorway, grinning toothily.
"I think you stuck a nerve in the runt."
"Oooh, does that make you angry?" She took a judicious step back from him, Kurt's tail switching behind her like a cat with a caged bird.
"Why, I heard from the mansion just today. The terrorist Raven Darkholme is dead. Complications from a knife wound. Apparently killed by her own son...who is conveniently missing. As is his buddy Logan."
Logan watched her speak. It was hard to judge her expression as she wore Kurt's face but he could smell no duplicity. Damn.
"I heard that 'she' died denying her identity. Why, she claimed she was Kurt. I heard your little git Kitty was so enraged that she may have finished the job herself."
Oh, Kitty...don't give in to the rage. He wriggled his fingers and wrists, trying to compress them and pull his forearms free. Mystique stepped closer, she was obviously enjoying taunting him, she reeked of satisfaction. He growled, warning her away. This time she didn't move back.
"Poor thing, your son dead by your 'daughter's' hand. What a shame."
Logan felt his rage spike again as her words sank in - If she was telling the truth. No! I just found you, Kurt. There's too much left unsaid. And Kitty, she would die inside if she found out what she had done. No, not Kitty. For him, the pain was bearable. He had had the guilt, the stain, of murder for so long it was an old friend. But not Kitty. He had always wanted to protect her from such a blemish.
The revelation that Kurt was his son was one of the happier surprises of his life. Kurt was a good man. His strength of character was a credit to his name. If anything good had come of his life, fathering Kurt was one of the best. All their conversations on life and morality suddenly meant so much more.
It can't be true.
"I know you're lying, I can smell it."
She didn't bat an eyelash; her scent was, if anything, amused.
"Hmmm, you're nose lies then," she leaned forward, Kurt's stolen face a foot from his. "Age catching up to you?"
Just a little closer, Mystique. His son's face on that smug bitch rankled; it was helping him focus his rage.
"What's your plan? What do you think to accomplish? 'An army'....please. I've heard it before."
"You're trying to distract me aren't you, Logan? It was so easy to trick you. So in need of love...despite your reputation, you are a softhearted fool. Your beloved Silverfox was dead long before you ever knew. I had such hopes for our son. He was such a disappointment. I was happy to be rid of him. You should have heard him scream when I threw him off that waterfall. It went on, and on, and on - until it stopped. Just like Silverfox."
With an inhuman screech and a rending of flesh Logan pulled free from his bonds and leaped for Mystique's throat.

Bitch, ain't she.

And just to get the ball rolling again in the proper timeframe, I wrote this today.
Remember, Mystique (as Kurt) is coming in with the team, Kitty went to hide Kurt and Hank is now on their side.

***************************
Piotr gently laid the unconscious man on the bed in front of Hank. Cecilia bustled in behind him, already shoving her sleeves up.
"I stabilized him as soon as we found him, it looks a lot worse than it is, but I still want to run a few tests."
Hank nodded, dumbly. Was this really Mystique? It certainly looked like a bruised, rumpled Kurt. Kitty phased down through the ceiling.
"Wow, he looks bad. Where'd you find him?" Kitty exchanged a significant glance with Hank. "He looks like he went a couple rounds with Sabretooth..." Or Logan.
"Da, he did. He found us, he wasn't very coherent."
Right on cue, the figure on the bed stirred and opened his eyes.
"Where am I? Ah, thank heaven!" his eyes latched onto Kitty's immediately. "I'm so sorry Katzchen, I couldn't save Logan."
How dare she! Her hands balling into impotent fists at her side, Kitty restrained the cold rage building inside her. Barely. Hank laid a large hand on her arm, breaking the spell those yellow eyes had cast on her.
"Don't try to talk, Kurt. You may have internal injuries, you need to rest."
"Damn straight! I'm not gonna waste my time on you anymore if you're just going to undo everything I do!" Cecilia descended on him, pushing him back against the bed.
Kitty exchanged another glance with Hank. Thank you, her eyes said.
Storm strode into the room, her cold eyes sweeping over its inhabitants.
"Where is Mystique?"
"Ah, I was so distracted I failed to inform you all. Mystique died just a few hours ago."
The room was filled with startled silence. Kitty covertly watched "Kurt," he didn't bat an eyelash at the news.
Storm was the first to regain her composure.
"How did this happen? I want to see the body."
Kitty stiffened. Hank stepped closer to Storm, folding his hands into his pockets.
"I am trying to determine the cause of death now, Ororo, it wasn't her wounds. I was in the middle of the autopsy, I fear the body may be infectious. I will notify you all when I'm finished."
Ororo regarded Hank with her cat-like eyes for a moment, then dismissed him.
"Very well. We shall have to continue the search. Cecilia, notify me as soon as Kurt is stable. I will need to talk to him if we are to find Logan." She turned on her high heel and exited the room, head high.
We could be full of imposters, Kitty thought. Is she acting that way because she's scared, or is that even really 'Ro? Can I really trust that this is Hank? We need to find a better place to hide Kurt, too. It may still just be him and I against the world.
Hank cleared his throat, waking her from her paranoid reverie. "Kitty has been assisting me, so if I may excuse myself, I shall get back to work. Call me if you need anything, Cecilia."
"All right, thanks Hank," she acknowledged him with a wave, her eyes still on her patient.
Kitty and Hank departed the medlab without a backward glance but yellow eyes watched their retreating backs with interest.

Ahhhhhhh......
Thank you. This fan fiction is a lifeline for me since I dropped the comics. In fact this stuff is soooo much better than the comics.

After exiting the medlab, Hank led Kitty down to the morgue and promptly sealed the doors.
Hank: "There, this quarantine seal makes this part of the lab sound proof. I don't want to risk Mistique giving Cecilia the slip in order to eavesdrop on us."
Kitty: "...or anyone else! We still don't know who's really who!"
Hank: "Actually, i don't think that's as great as a concern as we had earlier speculated. I'll explain in a minute."
Hank motioned Kitty to follow him towards the cadaver drawers and then gently knocks one of them
Hank: "Kurt? Are you still in there?"
Kurt: "That's ment to be a rhetorical question, Ja?" The sarcasm clanged from the metal walls of the drawer.
Hank: "I'm sorry about this, but in our current situation this was the most logical place to hide you."
Kurt: "All things considered, being in here isn't the worst thing that's happened to me lately. Have you figured out how to change me back to myself?"
Hank: "I'm afraid not. But after some quick blood work and DNA comparisons I think I've figgured out how she changed you."
Kurt: "Thank God! That is at least a start."
Hank: "Yes, but perhaps also the end. You see the serium seems to be a stolen mutagen from the High Evolutionary combined with Mystique's own X-factor. In order to create an instant physical metamorphosis, Mystique temporarily gave you her powers."
Kitty: "But how could she be sure he would change into her?"
Hank: "Mystique can approximate a person's form by looking at him or her. But if she makes physical conact with the person, then she can mimic details down to the exact finger prints."
Kurt: <sigh> "...or voice. She was touching my arm when she injected me."
Hank: "But the metamorphic gene in the serium is incomplete. The victum can only once assume the form of whoever he or she is touching, but it lacks the ability to revert back to the original form."
Kitty: "That's why you don't think there are any other imposters arond. Anyone who tried to use the serium would be trapped in that person's shape. Oh Kurt..."
Kurt: "Please, Hank.. Is there nothing you can do? So long as I am stuck like this I cannot help. Also I am not thrilled at the idea of forever looking like my mother.."
Hank: "You're mother... Hmm! Kurt, the serium may not have access to all of Mystique's powers, but perhaps, somewhere in those furry little chromosomes of yours, you do."
Kitty: "You think Kurt might have inherited Mystique's shape-shifting ability?"
Hank: "Not the ability maybe, but the latent genes for it. And it is probable. We've seen other instances where the power of a mutant parent is passed to the offspring."
Kurt: "I'm glad to hear you sound optimistic again. Do you have a plan as to how this can change me back?"
Hank: "Maybe. I'll need to get a pure sample of the serium. And even if we can activate your metamorphic genes, your body might not remember how to.. Wait! Stay quiet Kurt, someone's comming!"
